Hyderabad: Man held in lottery scam

Sulaiman Kutty, a resident of Cherpulassery in Palakkad district, had opened 124 bank accounts to park the money looted from victims.

Hyderabad: CCS police arrested a man from Kerala on Monday for working for two Pakistani lottery scammers. Police said he looted lakhs from an Asian Institute of Gastroenterology official. The suspect, Sulaiman Kutty, allegedly met the Pakistani fraudsters while he was working in Saudi Arabia, and had started helping them to open around a 100 bank accounts in India. The Pakistani duo called several Indians and convinced them that they had won Airtel Lucky draw worth Rs 50 lakh and looting their money in the name of Income Tax and 'processing charges'.

Police is now searching for another person named Nasir, who had been helping Sulaiman Kutty to transfer the money to Pakistan through Hawala.

Sulaiman Kutty, a resident of Cherpulassery in Palakkad district, had opened 124 bank accounts to park the money looted from victims. He and another person transferred the cash to Pakistan through Hawala after taking 10 per cent commission, police said.

The Hyderabad victim, M. Sudhadmani, a nurse at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, received a call from the scammers in the last week of November 2016.
