Bengaluru: 3-year-old sexually assaulted in nursery
BENGALURU: A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by a supervisor of a nursery school in Marathahalli police limits. The police have arrested the accused and questioned the school principal about the incident.
The accused, Manjunath, is around 40 years old. The alleged incident took place on Friday on the school premises. The incident came to light when the girl returned home crying on Friday. When her parents asked her, she reportedly complained of pain in her private parts and explained what happened at the school.
The parents rushed to the school and complained to the principal. Though, the girl identified the accused in their presence and also identified him in the photo, the school authorities were not ready to file a complaint.
The next day, the parents approached the Marathahalli police and lodged a complaint, following which the police arrested Manjunath.
He was reportedly handling the CCTV cameras installed at the school and the parents fear that he might have deleted the footage.
Meanwhile, the parents also complained to the police against the school principal for not taking any action against Manjunath even after hearing from the girl about the incident.
On Monday, the police summoned the school principal and enquired her about the incident.
“We questioned her whether the school was adhering to the guidelines set to be followed in schools. She claimed the school is following them, but we have to verify it. The accused has been booked under the Pocso Act,” the police said.
Meanwhile, the school put up a notice at the school, saying they will be shut till further notice.
