Clinching evidence in Gauri Lankesh murder case, claim Sources
BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, has got clinching evidence, but it has to be verified by a foreign investigating agency, sources close to Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.
They said the SIT has already rounded up two accused connected to the case, but hasn’t taken them into custody because evidence collected by the SIT has been sent abroad for further examination.
They also said that once the SIT gets confirmation from the foreign agency, an announcement will be made.
Sources also said bullets recovered from the spot and Gauri’s body have been sent to ballistic experts abroad. Once the SIT gets the report confirming their suspicion, suspects will be arrested, the sources said.
Gauri was shot dead outside her house at Rajarajeshwarinagara on Sept 5, 2017. Soon after her death, the state government had formed the SIT to probe the case.
