Chennai: Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a man with slit injuries on his throat off Canal road in Korattur. Police suspect the man to be in his early 30s and a victim of murder. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
Locals who passed by the road found the body with injuries near the Tasmac outlet and informed the police.
Korattur police rushed to the scene on information and secured the body. It was sent to the Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital for autopsy.
CCTV footages in the neighbourhood are being perused to find leads, police said. Police suspect the man to have been assaulted as a result of a drunk brawl and left to die. However, other police stations in the city have been informed to check for missing person complaints in their jurisdiction over the past week.
Police said that it was also possible that the man might have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in Korattur. Further investigations are on.
