Hyderabad: Woman falls down hospital lift shaft, hurt
Hyderabad: A case was booked against a private hospital at Malakpet after a 40-year-old woman who came to meet a relative fell off the third floor after opening the doors of a manually operated lift, assuming that it arrived.
The woman, identified as Afroze Begum suffered grievous injuries and multiple fractures, police said.
“The woman had gone to Safe Hospital in Malakpet to visit her elder brother’s son, who was admitted there on Monday. While returning, she opened the lift door from the third floor and assuming that it had arrived, opened it and fell in, while it was still on the first floor. She sustained grievous injuries and has reportedly fractured her right leg and both hands,” said the police inspector of Malakpet, K.V. Subba Rao.
Based on a complaint from Abdul Shuban, 36, her younger brother, a case was booked against the hospital management under Section 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC. He sought legal action against the hospital for negligence.
The injured woman was shifted to another private hospital for medical attention and no arrests have been made yet, the police said.
