The Kakatiya Medical College's (KMC) Anti-Ragging Committee met on Tuesday and decided to remove the seven third-year MBBS students involved in the ragging of the second-year student and suspend them from all academic activities for three months.
The committee decided to suspend seven third-year MBBS students after conducting a comprehensive investigation and reviewing the video captured by the CCTV cameras. It should be remembered that on September 14, after hours, second-year MBBS student Manohar was returning to his hotel from the library when he was stopped and harassed by senior students who were celebrating a classmate's birthday on the college grounds.
Manohar was ridiculed while being forced to dance and consume alcohol. When Manohar attempted to assault them because he couldn't take the torment anymore, they beat him up and caused him harm. Manohar's parents filed a complaint with the Mattewada police station on September 16 after treating him at the MGM hospital.
The police officers filed a case against seven senior students who participated in ragging after receiving the report. Due to the fact that the college was closed on Sunday and Monday, the administration of the institution conducted a meeting of its anti-ragging committee on Tuesday with 15 members. Following a thorough investigation, all seven students were suspended.
Dr Mohan Das, the college's principal, announced that proactive steps would be taken to stop similar situations from happening in the future. He warned that students who participated in ragging episodes would face harsh punishment.
