TRS corporator booked for sexual harassment

Hyderabad: Panjagutta police registered a case against TRS leader Vijay Simha Reddy on charges of alleged sexual harassment of a contract employee of the GHMC, late Sunday night. The accused came to her home and attacked her when she turned down his demand to go nude on a video call, the woman, who is married, said in her complaint.

The woman, 31, told police that Simha Reddy had befriended her claiming to be a close associate of a TRS MLA and assured her that he would help settle her for life. Taking advantage of their friendship, he began harassing her sexually, she said.

Panjagutta inspector Harishchandra Reddy said the case was under investigation.

According to police, on Sunday night, the victim went to a pub at Begumpet. When she returned home, the victim alleged, she received a video call from Simha Reddy in which he was nude and demanded that she strip.

She refused to do so and disconnected the call, the victim said. A few minutes later, the accused carrying a beer bottle barged into her house and beat her up, the victim alleged. He gathered some pieces of the broken beer bottle and injured her on the throat and left hand.

Taking the name of the MLA, he threatened her with dire consequences and claimed that he could do anything he wanted, the woman told the police.
When she raised an alarm, he fled from the place, she alleged.

She called up her husband, who alerted the police and rushed her to a hospital. While she is recovering, Vijay Simha Reddy denied the allegations, stating that it was the victim who had forced him to go to her place, when he was at Kukatpally.

“She is doing all these at the behest of a TRS leader from Borabanda, to damage my political career,” he said.
