Hyderabad: 3 duped 226 cab drivers, held

They set up an office by taking infrastructure on rent and recruited 35 persons in various positions.

Hyderabad: Raidurgam police on Wednesday arrested a gang of three persons who allegedly duped over 226 cab drivers on the pretext of giving a monthly rent of Rs 30,000 for working for them to transport passengers in the IT Corridor area, and collected Rs 10 lakh towards registration fee, but failed to give back the promised returns to the drivers.

Madhapur DCP A. Venkateshwar Rao said the accused Shahanur Shamshuddin Atar, 35, managing director of ASWEG Enterprises Pvt Ltd, hailing from Maharashtra, Mohammed Akbar, 36, director of the company and native of Hyderabad along with Mohd Zeeshan Khaleel Siddiqui, 24, of Maharashtra were arrested following a detailed investigation into the case.

About four months ago, the accused established a company, ‘7 Eleven World Group’, a division of ASWEG Enterprises, an online cab booking service at Raidurgam.

They set up an office by taking infrastructure on rent and recruited 35 persons in various positions.

“They (accused) advertised about paying huge monthly rentals to cab drivers for transporting passengers who make online reservations through their company. They even collected deposits from 226 cab drivers which amounted to over Rs 10.38 lakh,” the police official said.
