Udupi labourer arrested for making bomb hoax call to Mangaluru airport

The officials immediately jumped into action, as an explosive was found in the airport in January this year

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Police have arrested a person for making a hoax bomb call to Mangaluru International Airport.

On Wednesday afternoon, a former director of the airport living in Mangaluru received a phone call from an unknown person about a bomb in the airport. The message was immediately conveyed to the authorities.

The officials immediately jumped into action, as an explosive was found in the airport in January this year. After thorough checking on Wednesday, officials concluded it to be a hoax call.

However, the police teams began tracking the person who had made the phone call and finally arrested him.

The arrested has been identified as Vasanth from Udupi district. Preliminary inquiry states that he is a labourer and does not have any criminal background.
