Hyderabad: Man dies in explosion, police rules out terror

A Clues team and forensic experts visited the spot and collected samples.

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old man died after an explosion took place in his house in Abdullapurmet on Saturday. Though rumours initially said that religious books were found in a neighbouring room, police said that there was nothing suspicious. They also ruled out the terror angle.

The blast created panic in the locality, but police said the deceased could have committed suicide, but other angles are also being checked. A Clues team and forensic experts visited the spot and collected samples. A suspicious death case was registered.

Tippagalla Parasuram, a resident of Thorrur village in Abdullapurmet mandal, was working as a technician with a private Internet service provider. A few months ago, he left the job. He had married one Shailaja a year ago. On Saturday morning, she went to a nearby temple to offer Bonalu, leaving Parasuram alone at home, police said.

At around 8 am, neighbours heard a loud noise from Parasuram’s house. When they reached his house they could see only smoke and flames. The tin sheet roof of the house was blown off.

“We heard a loud noise and when we went there he was engulfed in flames. We poured water and put out the fire but could not get inside due to the smoke,” his neighbour B. Kannayya said.

Another neighbour said they were frightened by the huge noise and thought some blast had occurred and were scared to come out of their house, but were relieved later as everything looked normal.

Police, who rushed to the spot, said that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide or an accident.

“A kerosene bottle was found near the body of Parasuram. We are examining all angles and would soon establish facts regarding the death,” LB Nagar DCP M. Venkateswar Rao said in a release. Household articles were also destroyed in the blast.

Police said that although the terror angle was ruled out they are checking other aspects and Parasuram’s background.
