FIR for causing injury to Krishna river

Pamidimukkala tahsildar found 1,64,997 cubic metres of sand was removed from the patta lands without permission.

Vijayawada: The ACP-East has registered a case against Ganta Suresh for causing injury to River Krishna and for resorting to a mischief by lowering the value of the de-casted mud and sand, at Lankapalli Lanka village in Pamidimukkala mandal.

Cases have been booked under non bailable sections of IPC 427 and 431, ACP V. Vijay Bhaskar said and added that the other sections related to the AP River Conservation Act and Minor Mineral Concession rules were also mentioned in the FIR.

Despite political pressures, the district administration and police commisionerate had acted tough on the sand mafia.

In a complaint to the Pamidimukkala sub-inspector, tahsildar Victor Babu stated that it was identified in the survey numbers 40, 41, 42, and parts of 43&44 of Lankapalli Lanka village, ordinary earth and mud were removed, by the Ganta Suresh and his associates.

"In an extent of 15.41 acres, Suresh had removed 1,64,997 cubic metres of ordinary earth," the tahsildar said and even provided details according to the survey numbers, in his complaint to the Pamidimukkala SI.

The tahsildar also mentioned that he had told Ganta Suresh to stop the excavation in the said survey numbers and asked him to get the permission from the departments concerned.

The tahsildar, in his complaint, said he had noticed illegal sand quarrying in the patta lands during his weekly visit to Lankapalli village, on August 15.

After verifying records thoroughly, along with the EE (River Conservancy) and other officers concerned, the tahsildar urged the SI to file case against Ganta Suresh under Sections 13 and 14 of the AP River Conservancy Act 1884, and also for the violations of APMMC Rules, 1966.
