Madhya Pradesh: Probity of a different kind

The matter came to the light when the panchayat secretary spilled the beans.

Bhopal: An elected representative of a rural body in Chhattisgarh has demonstrated probity of a different kind by allegedly issuing the money receipt for the “bribe money he has received” from a civil contractor awarded works in his area.

Zilla Parishad member from Dongra Gram Panchayat under Baloda Bazar district in east Chhattisgarh, Jileram Kaibarta, has reportedly issued the hand written money receipt stamped with seals of local sarpanch and panchayat secretary accepting that he has received commission from the contractor who has been awarded works to develop sewerage in the local primary school, official reports said on Tuesday.

The matter came to the light when the panchayat secretary spilled the beans after Jileram accused him of indulging in corrupt practices while awarding contracts, at a meeting of elected members of the rural body recently.

“Jileram has even committed in the receipt that he would not create hurdles in execution of the contract by the builder if he received his ten percent commission in time,” a complaint with the administration by the villagers has claimed.
