Hyderabad: A daily-wage worker was allegedly raped by four youths, all in their early twenties, inside the premises of a Government Junior College in Kalwakurthy town on Monday midnight. they awer later arrested.
The local residents, who had taken it upon themselves to guard the premise in an effort to curb the nuisance recurring there, heard her cries and rushed to her rescue, but the four fled the scene leaving behind their two-wheelers, a senior police official said, adding that they were later nabbed.
During interrogation, the accused claimed that only two of them raped the woman.
According to sources, four youth identified as Mansoor, Jilani, Abid and Salman, were found assaulting a woman sexually in the compound near Indira Nagar colony around midnight.
The woman, a daily wage worker, was returning to her house in Kalwakurthy town last night when the four men came on two bikes and dragged her to the compound.
District collector E. Sreedhar and SP Sunpreet Singh visited the spot and assured the people that all possible support would be extended to the victim, as she was a mother of two and had nobody to look after the family after her husband’s death eight years ago.
Mr. Singh further added that apart from the relevant sections pertaining to rape and sexual assault, Preventive Detention Act would also be imposed on the four individuals, he said, adding that the woman had been sent for medical tests....
