Hyderabad: LLB student kills mother over financial tiff
Hyderabad: An LLB student from the city has been arrested for killing his sexagenarian mother over a financial dispute. The accused, who attempted to make the death look like an accident, was held following the postmortem report that indicated that the deceased woman’s left kidney had been smashed and that her ribs and head had suffered internal injuries.
The deceased woman, identified as K. Radha Purnima, 61, a retired teacher at Defence Laboratories School, was living with her son in Ayodhya Nagar, Kushaiguda. Her son, P. Veereshwar, 35, unmarried, was pursuing LLB in a private college in the city.
Purnima was reportedly in debt and therefore used the month that she received post-retirement to pay off her debts, and that irked her son as he had none of the money to himself. As a result, the duo quarrelled very frequently over the issue, and the residents of their apartment complex were witness to the same.
On Friday evening, the accused Veereshwar told his neighbours that his mother had fallen and lost consciousness following which, the neighbours immediately alerted the Kushaiguda police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy.
The autopsy revealed that the woman had suffered severe injuries before she died.
Kushaiguda detective inspector B Bhaskar said, “The postmortem report revealed that the victim suffered several very harsh internal injuries before she died. Her left kidney was smashed and her ribs had been broken. Following this, Veereshwar was taken into custody, and he confessed to the act.” Subsequently, the accused was remanded to judicial custody.
