Transport official trapped by 'Anti-Corruption Bureau'
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths unearthed 1.5 kg gold ornaments, Rs 6.5 lakh cash, silver articles and property documents from the house of A. Nagaraju, Road Transport officer (RTO) of Malakpet.
The RTO A. Nagaraju and home guard T. Venkatraman were caught red-handed on Saturday for accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000. The officials including a private person K. Shivashanker Goud were arrested. The trio were caught taking a bribe from Mohd Lateef Qureshi, a resident of Amberpet for an official favour cancellation of car registration number AP 28 TV 5894 which was burnt due to accidental fire on March 30.
ACB sleuths suspected that RTO could have amassed assets disproportionate to his income.
The sleuths seized 6.5 lakh cash, 1.5 kg of gold ornaments, silver article and few documents of properties & policy documents. The ACB is likely to carry out searches at the bank lockers owned by the RTO.
