Hyderabad: In a selfie video, Swathi blames Naresh's family
Hyderabad: A day after the High Court ordered the police to produce the missing groom Amboji Naresh before it, a selfie video of his wife Swathi, who committed suicide, surfaced on Friday. In the video, Swati is seen saying she was harassed by Naresh’s family for dowry and her parents had no role in her death.
Meanwhile, Naresh’s family alleged that she was with them only for three days. They said Swathi’s father Srinivas Reddy “is a highly influential person, he is hiding Naresh, and he can cause any harm” to him.
In the video, Swathi was seen detailing how she had been harassed by her husband’s family. She said that after they returned home from Mumbai, her parents received her happily. “My father consoled me saying it was common for this age, and assured me that he will see that I have a better future,” Swathi said.
She said that soon after their marriage, Naresh started inquiring about her family property. “He asked how much property we were having, and how much dowry was given to my sister. I said we have 18 acres of land and my father gave Rs 25 lakh in cash and gold to my sister. Then he inquired how much we will get as dowry and I said a minimum of Rs 35 lakh,” she said, adding that Naresh’s family was solely responsible for her suicide.
