Hyderabad: Just how easy it is to get a fake educational certificate was demonstrated by a DC reporter who contacted an agent in Hyderabad seeking a B ech certificate. The agent offered a list of universities to choose from, and promised to deliver the certificate anywhere.
He was also ready to deliver the “highest quality material” made in Kolkata, Mumbai or Delhi.
“Just give your correct identity details and pay the money. You can choose the university, course, and the mark/grade you want," the agent told our undercover reporter.
“For diploma certificates, we charge Rs 25,000 and for B Tech you need to pay Rs 35,000 or more depending upon the quality of the product,” the agent said. He invited our reporter to “check with our previous customers, who have successfully got placed using our certificates. Nobody can differentiate between the original and the one we make,” he boasted.
Once the deal is clinched, more than half the amount has to be paid beforehand. "You have to pay Rs 28,000 initially to place the order. The rest you can pay when you get the certificate in hand."
During the conversation, the agent described the kinds of clients he has been getting in the two years he has been active in the field.
Most of his customers are those heading for jobs in Gulf countries. "Several people with fake certificates are successfully working in private firms in Gulf countries. In places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman etc, they get into entry level jobs in a specific sector, build some experience and then switch companies with a fake certificate. They manage to convince the employer that they have done the course in distance education," he said.
There are also people who have fooled their employers in India with these certificates. "We guarantee you that our certificates can never be detected as fake," he said with all the confidence of an expert salesman.
