Five Maoist sympathisers held, explosives seized

Following instructions issued by Maoists, the five sympathisers secured explosives from quarries in Bejjanki mandal of Siddipet district

KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar police arrested on Tuesday five Maoist sympathisers and seized from them explosives including 14 boxes of detonators, each box containing 100 pieces; seven bundles of safety fuses, each containing 25 coils; four coils of lose bundles, four mobile phones, two cars and ₹ 1.45 lakh in cash.

Speaking to media, police commissioner V. Satyanarayana identified the sympathisers as Mudidena Chinna Rao (32) and Kondagorla Sunil (27) of Chhattisgarh state, Basaveni Rajaiah (56) and Gorla Babu (40) of Siddipet district, and Nagaboina Nagaraju (54) of Hanamkonda district.

Following instructions issued by Maoists, the five sympathisers secured explosives from quarries in Bejjanki mandal of Siddipet district. On receiving credible information, police intercepted the sympathisers before they could cross the state’s borders.

The top cop warned people that stringent action will be taken against them if they maintain relations with anti-social elements to make easy money.

Additional DCP (law and order) S. Srinivas, Karimnagar rural ACP Vijay Sarathi, Thimmapur inspector Shashidar Reddy and SI Pramod Reddy were among those present at the press conference.
