Hyderabad: Eamcet-2 question paper leak kingpin remanded
Hyderabad: Shiv Bahadur Singh, main accused in the Eamcet-2 question paper leak last year, was sent to judicial remand on Wednesday. Singh, a native of UP, was arrested from a hideout at Jaunpur district earlier this week.
Police said he was involved in question paper leak in seven other states, including the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers’ exam. Police also arrested another suspect, Anoop Kumar Singh.
“He is allegedly involved in the paper leak of Railway Group-D exam in Lucknow, railway drivers’ exam at Allahabad, Teachers’ Eligibility Test paper leak in Punjab and Kolkata, PSC examination leak case of Punjab, Wardha Medical College paper leak and the DMRC exam paper leak case,” said a senior official from CID.
He said Singh was active from 2005, when he started leaking question papers.
The CID started the Eamcet-2 leak investigation in July last and has arrested 49 persons including brokers and sub-brokers and seized Rs 2.87 crore from them.
The investigation officials had found that a number of students were taken to camps set up in five cities before the Eamcet-II last year and trained in answering the question paper. The exam was later cancelled.
Singh had embarrassed the police earlier by filing an anticipatory bail plea in the High Court even as CID teams were looking for him.
