Hyderabad: 48-year-old man tries to abuse 8-year-old neighbour
Hyderabad: A 46-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to sexually exploit the eight-year-old daughter of his tenant. The Madhapur police said the accused, Chakradhar alias Chakravarthy, had offered toffees and lured the girl to his house. Police said Chakradhar, a resident of Parvathanagar in Madhapur, worked as a labourer and lived along with his family.
On Monday evening, the victim, a Class III student at a private school, was playing near her house after returning from school. Her parents, both labourers, were out at work. Chakradhar allegedly offered the girl toffees, took her to his house and tried to sexually assault her.
The girl’s mother returned home in the meanwhile and didn’t find her. She began searching for her and allegedly found her in Chakradhar’s house. She pulled the girl out of the house and alerted the neighbours, and called the police, who took Chakradhar into custody for the questioning.
A senior official from the Cyberabad police commissionerate quoted from the mother’s complaint to say that she had seen Chakradhar lying on the girl on a bed.
Based on the complaint from the mother, a case under IPC Sections 376 (punishment for rape) read with 511 (punishment for offences entailing imprisonment), Sections 9 (aggravated sexual assault) and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of POCSO Act and under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered. Chakradhar was picked up for questioning.
The victim was sent for counselling and medical assistance, and the investigation is on. The accused has not been arrested yet, said the official.
