Ten kilo ganja seized in Thiruvananthapuram
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major haul, the city police arrested two peddlers and seized 10 kilogram of ganja on Sunday. The arrested were identified as Johnny, 48, son of Nesamani of Ashwaty Bhavan, Kuzhichani, Amaravila and Thomas, 31, son of Nelson of Maryanad, Kazhakoottam. The shadow police started trailing Johhny after many of the recently arrested peddlers claimed they got weed from him. Johnny was previously arrested by the Excise as well as the police for peddling but was avoiding detection for a long time by being extra cautious. The shadow policemen posed as small scale peddlers and managed to gain his trust. They convinced him to deliver a large quantity of weed.

Police immediately caught Thomas from Pettah area and recovered weed from him. “Last week, four peddlers were caught smuggling weed into Kerala from Theni using vehicles with Press stickers. The owners of the vehicles were traced to Balaramapuram which was Johnny’s area of activity. This led us to him,” said DCP Arul R.B. Krishna. The suspects were arrested by a team setup by City police Commissioner Sparjan Kumar. Control Room Assistant Commissioner Suresh Kumar V., Kovalam Crime SI G Ajayakumar, Pettah SI Chandra Bose M., Shadow SI Sunil Lal were part of the team.
