UP: Man beheads wife to save 13-year-old daughter from being prostituted

Meerut: In a shocking incident, a man beheaded his wife on Thursday in Meerut's Salempur area in order to stop her from prostituting their 13-year-old daughter, said the police. The body of the deceased was found in a nude state.

According to the police, the perpetrator, Tejpal Singh, killed his wife with the help of his two nephews. He married Anita alias Sarita seventeen years ago. Hailing from a small town in Bihar, when Sarita shifted to Delhi after marriage she got attracted towards the glitter and glamour of the city and wanted to lead a lavish life. Tejpal being a labourer, earning a meager amount, couldn’t fulfill her demands owing to which she got herself into prostitution. Sarita’s profession was a bone of contention for the duo; they had often fought over the issue. However, Tejpal’s effort to stop her from engaging in flesh trade went in vain.

When Tejpal got to know of his wife’s wish to sell off their 13-year-old daughter to a client, he thought of killing her. With the help of two nephews, he beheaded her and took off her clothes thinking that the police wouldn’t recognize her, but unfortunately they had left her cell phone at the spot which ended up being a tip off, said the police.

The police are probing the matter and are yet to recover the severed head.
