Hyderabad: The investigations into the Abhay Modani murder case is taking new turns everyday. Though there are no formal arrests so far, sources said the police has nabbed three persons including Sai and the boy’s father’s former driver on the AP-Odisha border. The police is also investigating the role of hawala trading in the incident.
Police traced Sai’s mobile location to Rajahmundry and intensified searches there. Later, they found the suspects were moving towards Odisha via Vizag. Sources said that Sai, a former driver of Rajkumar and another person, hatched the plan to kidnap Abhay. They came to know about the hawala trading of Abhay’s father Rajkumar and thought they can make money through kidnap but killing the boy was not their objective. “Their plan was to kidnap either Abhay or Abhishek. As per the plan, Sai developed friendship with the kids,” an official said.
Sai kidnapped Abhay and took him to a secluded location, where the other two were waiting. “Abhay must have become suspicious. Fearing that he may escape they tried to confine him and he was killed,” the official added.
