Bengaluru: Petrol bunk staff waylaid, Rs 21 lakh looted
The victims have been identified as Dodda Nagappa and Venkataramanaiah, both employees of Gati petrol bunk in Madnayakanahalli.

BENGALURU: Four unidentified men allegedly assaulted two employees of a petrol bunk and fled with a bag containing Rs 21.44 lakh after spraying chilli powder into their eyes in Madanayanakanahalli police limits on Saturday morning. The victims have been identified as Dodda Nagappa and Venkataramanaiah, both employees of Gati petrol bunk in Madnayakanahalli.
According to the police, the incident took place around 10.40 pm in front of Jindal Public School on National Highway-4. The two employees told the police that they had kept the cash inside the bag and left for the bank in a bike around 10 am. The incident took place when they were on their way to Canara Bank’s Chikkabidirakallu branch to remit the funds.
They told police that four men followed them in two bikes. One of those bikes collided with their bike from the rear and Dodd Nagappa, the rider and Venkataramanaiah fell down. The suspects sprayed chilli powder into their eyes and attacked with a lethal weapon injuring Venkataramanaiah. They were soon joined by their two associates, snatched the bag from Venkataramanaiah and absconded, police said.
The police said that someone who knew routine activity of Gati petrol bunk employees carried out the attack. The police also did not rule out the involvement of insiders and said they would question every worker at the bunk. They also obtained CCTV footage of nearby areas to trace the suspects, said the police. Madanayakanahalli police have registered a case of robbery.
