Chennai: A 32-year-old teacher of a private school in Mudichur, Tambaram was arrested on Monday on charges of molesting a class 9 girl student. According to the police, the girl had complained that one Arun Kumar, who had been a computer teacher in the school since January. He had been molesting the child for the past few days.
Police said the incident took place on Friday in the school on the pretext of extra classes.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the girl's parents asked her to go to school when the girl started crying and when her parents enquired, she revealed the inappropriate behaviour of the teacher to her parents," said a police officer investigating the case.
The girl's father lodged a complaint on Monday with Peerkankaranai police and later the case was transferred to the Tambaram All Women's police station and the police arrested Arun Kumar on Monday night.
Arun Kumar has been booked under section 8 of POCSO act (physical contact without penetration) and he has been remanded under judicial custody. Further investigations are on.
