Iqbal said: It is not possible to control such crimes when persons like Ramesh move freely in the society.

Khammam: Khammam Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal invoked Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Kasula Ramesh, aged 32 years, for involvement in various heinous crimes.

Resident of Surapalli in Yadadri district Ramesh was involved in nine cases within the limits of Kusumanchi, Mudigonda and Khammam Rural police stations. He resorted to burglary, sexual harassment and intimidating a person under Mudigonda police station limits. In Kusumanchi, he was allegedly involved in three crimes and three in Khammam Rural mandal.

Iqbal said: “It is not possible to control such crimes when persons like Ramesh move freely in the society. These criminals are organised offenders and invoking PD Act is the only way to check such crimes.”

Ramesh, who is habituated to lavish expenditure and gives priority to enjoyment, used to select locked houses and lift valuables and sell them in the market.

PD Act will be invoked against such persons and bail will not be available to them for 12 months under the Act. The Act used to be invoked against drug peddlers, rapists and others.
