Hyderabad: Student, lorry driver smuggle ganja, held
Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team of Rachakonda arrested a degree student from Visakhapatnam and a car driver for smuggling ganja into the state. The police seized 106 kg of ganja from the duo and is searching for a third member of the gang.
Personnel of the Malkajgiri SOT intercepted a car at Choutuppal on Monday night on receiving information that some people were smuggling ganja from Andhra Pradesh. During their search, police found 53 two-kg sachets concealed in the car.
Police questioned Medishetti Ganesh, 23, and graduate student Pothula Sai, 19, both residents of Yetigarimipeta in Andhra Pradesh. Police recovered two mobile phones and a knife from Sai.
The police added that Ganesh was smuggling ganja for some time and had contacts.
He used to purchase the drug in Narsipatnam in the Agency area for about Rs 3,000 per kg and sell it in the city for Rs 10,000.
Police said Prasad would pay Ganesh and Sai Rs 10,000 for their expenses, and would take back the money after they sell the drug.
