I am satisfied with timely justice, says Hasini's father
Chennai: “I only had two options in my mind – Either Dhasvanth had to die or me,” Babu’s voice quivered as he spoke. For Babu, the father of seven-year-old Hasini, who was raped and murdered, it was a tale of horror, numerous death threats and running from pillar to post everyday fighting for justice for his child.
Disgusted to see his daughter’s murderer, Babu was sitting in the corner of the room adjacent to the court hall, where capital punishment was announced. Only when he received a phone call about the judgment, he erupted in joy for the first time since his daughter’s death and went on to distribute sweets to everybody on the premises.
“The past year was hell. It was torturous every time I had to attend the court and talk about Hasini’s death. The fact that I was unable to save my daughter hit me in waves,” he said. He further continued that the lawyers and police assured him that the verdict would definitely be in favour of him as there were strong evidences to prove Dhasvanth guilty.
“Today, I am really satisfied with the timely justice, which would also be a slap on the face to others committing such crimes as they would now be aware of the judicial action. Also it is a lesson for parents who support their children in such crimes. (Not to forget, Dhasvanth’s father helped him get a bail before he went on to murder his mom),” said Babu with tears of joy. Following Hasini’s death, Babu shifted his family to Andhra as Dhasvanth had allegedly threatened him.
