Thiruvananthapuram: Meghalaya woman abused inside train
Thiruvananthapuram: A woman from Meghalaya, 30, who resides in the capital, was allegedly molested inside a moving train on Friday night. She claimed that none of her co-passengers helped her thwart the advances by the molester. The railway police, who registered a case, said the victim was working as a maid at a professor’s house at Pettah. She had gone to her native place on leave and was returning on the Guwahati Express when the incident happened.
When the train reached Thrissur, a middle-aged man occupied the seat next to her. She was sleeping on a nearby seat and he started touching her belly and passing obscene comments. She protested against the advances but the man sat on her lap and started abusing her.
Though there were three other persons in the compartment, none of them helped her. The harassment continued until the train reached Ernakulam south railway station where the man got out. The woman revealed the incident to her employer who asked her to register a case. Finally, she approached the police along with her employer. Railway police SI R. Roji has started a probe to trace the culprit.
