Bengaluru: Man thrashed for harassing minor

The accused, Suresh, a resident of Jairajnagar, is undergoing treatment at Nimhans following the attack.

Bengaluru: A 57-year-old painter was thrashed by the parents and relatives of a minor girl after he allegedly sexually harassed her. The alleged incident took place in Viveknagar police limits.

The accused, Suresh, a resident of Jairajnagar, is undergoing treatment at Nimhans following the attack.

Suresh on Saturday lured the 11-year-old girl, who is the daughter of his distant relative, by telling her that he would buy her chocolates and sweets. He took her to a graveyard nearby in the afternoon and allegedly sexually harassed her. As some passersby noticed him, he escaped leaving the girl. The people enquired the girl and dropped her home.

“On Sunday evening, Suresh had slept inside an autorickshaw in Austin Town and the parents and relatives of the girl found him. They thrashed him black and blue. We received information and a team was rushed to the spot. As he had sustained injuries in the assault, he was admitted to Nimhans. The girl’s parents have filed a complaint and an FIR was registered under Pocso Act,” the police said.

Investigations revealed that Suresh is married to three women. “His first wife passed away several years ago and he got married to another woman, who is in Dharwad. But at the same time, he also tied the knot with another woman with whom he is living now in Bengaluru,” the police said.
