Bihar: Five-year-old boy thrown in funeral pyre due to a fall out

The baby was pulled back immediately; he suffered burn injuries on his legs.

Bihar: A fall out between two warring neighbours took a toll on a five-year-old boy as he was thrown into a funeral pyre in the Madhepur district of Bihar following the dispute.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, though the five-year-old Amit Kumar was pulled back immediately, he suffered burn injuries on his legs.

The turn of event was a result of a brawl between Muni Ram and Shambhu Mehtr, residents of Basgarha village under Udakishanganj police station in Madhepura district. Ram and Mehtr were fighting over whether a dead body should be cremated near the place where the former resides.

Ram’s family members were cremating the body of one of their family members in the ground right in front of their house. However, in an attempt at stopping Ram’s family from doing so, Mehtr tried to stopped them.

The argument took an ugly turn when Mehtr’s five-year-old son was held aloft and thrown into the funeral pyre.

The boy was immediately pulled out of the pyre by the onlookers and rushed to a nearby hospital.

An FIR has been lodged against Ram at the nearby police station.
