‘Drunk driving’ kills three in Hyderabad, 1 battling for life

Hyderabad: A midnight joy ride in a car turned fatal for three of four persons, including two Telugu serial actresses. Two women and a bank employee died on the spot while a fourth is battling for life after being critically injured when their car hit a tree near HCU in Gachibowli police limits.

Though the post-mortem report is awaited, police sources said they were in an intoxicated condition. The car was rented from Zoom car services.

The deceased were identified as N. Manasa, 22, M. Manasa, 21, and Abdul Raheem, 25, a bank employee. Siddu was admitted to a hospital with grievous injuries. The two women and Siddu acted in Telugu serials and their meme videos enjoyed popularity on social media sites.

Gachibowli inspector G. Suresh said that it was around 2 am on Saturday that the four started in a car (TS 07 UH 1349) from Ameerpet and reached Gachibowli. After some time, they proceeded to Linghampally to have tea where after crossing HCU, Abdul Raheem, who was driving the vehicle, lost control and rammed into a tree-killing three on the spot. A passerby noticed the mishap and informed the police on 100. The night patrolling police shifted the injured person to a nearby hospital.

Police suspect that the four could have been intoxicated when they went on a joy ride.

A case of negligent driving was registered and the bodies were shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem.
