VISHAKHAPATNAM: A 39-year-old woman, her lover, and his friend were arrested by the Yellamanchili police under Anakapalli district on Sunday for allegedly killing her husband.
The deceased was identified as Kondala Rao, 45, a contract employee of NTPC Simhadri power station. The arrested were Uma, Chiranjeevi, and his friend Hari.
According to the police, Uma had developed an extramarital affair with Chiranjeevi, who was known to her husband. Three months ago, Kondala Rao warned Uma to stop meeting Chiranjeevi. However, she ignored his advice. Subsequently, they quarreled over the issue, and Uma decided to eliminate him.
Working in collaboration with Chiranjeevi and his friend Hari, Uma convinced Kondala Rao to visit a private hospital in Kakinada for a diabetes checkup. While Uma stayed back, the two men took Kondala Rao in a car on November 7 and allegedly strangled him to death. They later disposed of the body in the Godavari River.
Following pressure from her in-laws, Uma filed a missing person report on November 12. The body was found on November 18. During their investigation, the police discovered that all the mobile phones were in the same location, and upon questioning, Uma confessed to the murder of her husband.
