Telangana: SHE Teams nab 41 harassers in three weeks
Hyderabad: Rachakonda SHE Teams have booked 29 cases of eve teasing and apprehended 41 harassers (four minors and 37 majors) including a cabbie who for harassing and threatening a 19-year-old intermediate student in the last three weeks. The accused, Malloori Naveen Kumar, 27 a cab driver and resident of Pochampally used to follow the intermediate student from her home to college regularly.
When the victim did not show any interest, he started sending abusive text and threats to her and her mother’s phone. On a complaint registered by her mother, a case was registered under the Nirbhaya Act and he was arrested. In another incident, a woman working in a private firm approached the cops as an ex-colleague was harassing, stalking, using foul language and torturing her for two months. The victim was being blackmailed by the accused with pictures that she had taken with him. The victim initially gave the accused some money and her ATM card to delete her pictures.
However, the accused threatened her again. She then approached the SHE Teams who nabbed the accused. In addition, the child marriage of a 14-year-old girl with a 23- year-old man was averted by the SHE Team officials of Bhongir. The duo along with their parents were sent for counselling. The 41 harassers were caught by SHE Teams through decoy operations at hotspots like railway stations, bus stops, working places and colleges. Majority of complaints were registered through WhatsApp groups from different areas in Rachakonda.
All the respondents were made to attend the counseling session in the presence of their family which was conducted by Rachakonda She teams, at the Commissioner Camp office, Nagole, LB Nagar. Children in conflict with law also counseled by professional psychologist to change their behavior.
