Parked trucks cause mishaps on ORR; cops plan measures to curb
Hyderabad: Accidents, occurring due to vehicles especially trucks stationed on the Outer Ring Road, have become the cause for rising concern. As many as six persons including Tollywood actor Bharat were killed in such accidents in the recent past, in different locations of the ORR. Cops say that they have taken enough measures to minimise such accidents including the increase of the number of patrolling vehicles to check and restrict vehicle stoppage on the ORR. Though this has yielded a positive result and there is a decrease in the number of deaths on the ORR, the cops are still working to minimise them further, said Mr AR Srinivas, DCP (Traffic), Cyberabad.
The trucks are not just parked in the wrong lane, there is no care taken to warn oncoming vehicles with blinking parking lights or any other measure. The poor lighting on the road also adds to the woes of the speeding vehicle drivers. "To avoid accidents on ORR, the number of patrolling vehicles have been increased and the speed has been cut down from 120 kmph to 100 kmph. Over-speeding is also being checked with laser speed guns. ORR has also been well lit now with LED lights. The number of deaths has come down, said Mr AR Srinivas, DCP (Traffic), Cyberabad.
