Kerala: Youth held in largest-ever LSD seizure
Kochi: In the largest-ever LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) haul from across the district, the Ernakulam Rural Police on Saturday seized 109 LSD stamps and arrested a man identified as Kailas alias Unnimon (24), a resident of Uzhavur, Kottayam. According to Kunnathunadu police, he is the key member of a gang indulged in the supply of drugs for DJ parties here, after smuggling in narcotics from Goa.
“A graduate in engineering, he used to procure the synthetic drug from Goa. Known by the pet name 'peddler’ in the drug circles, Kailas recently began procuring drugs from Mangalore after the enforcement agencies launched a crackdown on drug rackets in Goa. Majority of his customers were students from professional colleges in the neighbouring states,” police said.
During his interrogation, cops learnt that the drug cartels were planning to organise DJ parties in Ernakulam and Nedumbassery in a massive way to promote drug culture among the youth. Further, they also received information about the person who handed over the narcotic consignment to the accused. “There will be more arrests in the coming days,” an officer said.
