Hyderabad: Intermediate student commits suicide by setting self ablaze
Hyderabad: An Intermediate student committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in the college hostel on Tuesday. Police said she was depressed as she was staying away from her parents.
Nadikuda Satvika spoke to her mother Latha just before ending her life.
Meanwhile, the Balala Hakkula Sangham blamed college managements stating that their style of functioning was forcing students to end lives. They demanded a criminal case against the institution and an inquiry into the incident. The Sangham said that managements were blindly attributing all suicides to love affair.
N. Satvika, 16, the daughter of Santosh Reddy and Latha, of Armoor in Nizamabad district, was studying first-year Intermediate MPC at the Sri Chaitanya Junior College on Bollaram Road. She came to the college two days ago after Dusserah. Since then she looked upset and was alone.
On Tuesday, at around 1 pm, she called her mother Latha and told her that she did not want to stay at the hostel. After that she went to lunch along with friends but returned midway. When her friends came back they found her completely burnt.
Police said her body was totally burnt and covered with books and clothes. She did not leave any suicide note. Her parents are clueless about the incident. “We are sending cloth samples and other objects for forensic analysis,” Kukatpally ACP N. Bhujanga Rao said. Police registered a suspicious death case and handed over the body after post-mortem.
