Auto driver murdered in drunken brawl

Saidabad police said that the victim received injuries during the brawl that happened late Saturday night

HYDERABAD: A drunken brawl over a missing mobile phone led to the death of an auto driver K. Lakpathi (46) in Saidabad. Police registered a murder case and started an investigation.

Additional inspector of Saidabad police station, P. Suresh said that the victim received injuries during the brawl that happened late Saturday night. He succumbed while undergoing treatment on Sunday.

The three accused have been identified and a hunt is on to nab them. Lakpathi is survived by his wife and three children. Police said Lakpathi was residing in Singareni Colony of Saidabad.

On Saturday night, he along with his friends Makhat Lal, Ganesh, Ganapathi and three others consumed alcohol. After they all got drunk, Lakpathi noticed his mobile phone was missing and questioned his friends if they had taken it.

This led to an argument, resulting in a brawl and the suspects rained blows on him.
