Hyderabad: A TSRTC driver who laced sedatives in sweets to drug a differently abled woman and raped her was arrested by the Medipally police on Tuesday. The wife of the accused who also forced the woman to cooperate with her husband was also booked and arrested, said the police.
The victim, a 29-year-old widow was living in Boduppal. After her husband died in 2013, she was expecting a job in the RTC on compassionate grounds.
One day, when she went to Bus Bhavan, one Soma Sailu, who is an RTC driver met her and offered her help. He took Rs 3 lakh from her telling that he has good contacts and promised a job, according to the police .
After a few days, he created a fake identification card and salary slip informing her that she got a job, the police said.
"In order to celebrate the occasion, he went to her house with a box of sweets laced with sedatives. On consuming the sweets, she fell unconscious. He raped her and further threatened to kill her if she complains. The accused also took seven empty bank cheques," said Medipally inspector B. Anji Reddy adding he raped her multiple times at her home.
