Hyderabad: Case filed against college over MDS student's suicide
Hyderabad: Madannapet Police booked a case against the management of Panineeya Institute of Dental Sciences at Dilsukhnagar following the death of a second year MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) student who hanged himself in his room in Kurmaguda late on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Mirza Asim Baig, 33, had alleged in a suicide note recovered from the crime scene that the college authorities have been deliberately failing him as they harboured a grudge against him and that he had slipped into a depression over the issue.
“We are not sure about the authenticity of the note, which we have sent to the forensic science lab for analysis,” police said.
“In a recent exam, Asim failed in a couple of subjects, following which he slipped into a depression and he was also unhappy over some developments in his personal life. We have recovered a note from his room in which he said that the department had a personal grudge on him and failed him in the exams. Once the report comes from the lab we are hoping to get a clear picture of the student’s motive behind taking the extreme step,” inspector of Madannapet D. Nagesh said.
The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for postmortem examination and was later handed over to his family members. Based on a complaint from Baig’s brother, a case was booked under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of IPC and a probe launched.
