Bengaluru: Alert cops avert robbery, open fire
BENGALURU: High drama prevailed early on Sunday morning when alert RMC Yard police opened three rounds of fire in the air to stop an armed gang of six robbers, who were robbing people at knifepoint. The team, headed by Inspector Mukharam, managed to catch one of the robbers, while others fled.
Around 2.30 am, the gang on three bikes was robbing and terrorising people in Goreguntepalya near Taj Vivanta Hotel when the police confronted them.
Inspector Mukahram told Deccan Chronicle, “We received information about the gang robbing people at knifepoint. I set out along with my driver. When we reached Goreguntepalya, the gang was seen moving around suspiciously in the area. When we intercepted them and asked to surrender, they tried to escape. They even tried to attack us and we fired three rounds in the air to stop them. While others managed to escape, we arrested a 30-year-old.”
Efforts are on to nab the other gang members, while their bikes have been seized. A case was registered at the RMC Yard police station.
