Hyderabad: Guard assaults woman
Hyderabad: A woman lodged a complaint with Nampally Police on Saturday alleging that the security guard of a private hospital assaulted her when she refused to bribe him. However, the police also received a counter case from Krishna, the guard, who claimed that he did his job and had only asked her not carry a bag inside the hospital premises.
The same was verified through CCTV cameras, which supported the guard’s claim and showed that he stopped the woman from carrying a black bag inside the hospital, after which her son beat him up, said the ACP Saifabad, C. Venu Gopal Reddy.
“The woman approached the Nampally police alleging that he demanded her to give him a bribe to get in and that when she refused, he assaulted her. The complaint was promptly taken up by the officials who soon received another petition from Krishna the guard, who denied asking for money and pledged that he was doing his job,” said the official.
The police accessed the CC cameras in the hospital, which corroborated Krishna’s version of events and the case changed its course.
Following several complaints regarding the hospital in the past few weeks, an initiative was taken up to monitor the activities in and around the premises and verify people’s claim, concluded the ACP.
Patients and visitors to Niloufer Hospital have been facing this issue for a long time.
There is only one attendant allowed with each patient but it has been found that those waiting outside take turns to go inside.
A senior doctor on condition of anonymity said, “There is no pass system existing and families are found to be paying between Rs 10 and Rs 50 every time they needed to enter the hospital premises. Those who refuse to pay are not allowed to go inside. This has been the norm for long time.”
