Chain snatchings gang arrested in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Chandanagar police of Cyberabad commissionerate arrested a Maharashtra-based gang involved in a series of chain snatchings and recovered stolen property from them.
The accused have been identified as Amjad Iqbal Shaikh, Nurain Shaukat Hussain Khan, Tanveer Shaik, and Vijay Kamalkant Yadav, the receiver of the stolen property.
Police said the accused targeted women walking alone in isolated areas and robbed them of their jewellery.
Amjad Iqbal and Nurain Shaukat Hussain Khan reside in Mumbai. Whenever they want to make money, they travel to Hyderabad and take shelter at Tanveer Khan’s place in Sangareddy.
After looting, they return to Mumbai and dispose of the stolen property along with Yadav. The amount was equally distributed between the other three accused.
Based on evidence and the previous criminal history of Amjad Shaik, police traced and arrested the accused. Amjad Shaik alone was involved in 14 property offences in different parts of Hyderabad and the state of Maharashtra.
Nurain Shaukat Hussain Khan and Tanveer Shaik are also involved in property offences in the past, and Vijay Kamalkant Yadav is involved in a murder case in Mumbai, the police said.
