Bengaluru: Conman steals job-seeker's phone

The Cubbon Park police have taken up the case and are verifying CCTV footage in and around M.G. Road.

Bengaluru: A conman, posing as an owner of a restaurant chain, took a city job aspirant for a long drive in a cab on Friday and later decamped with his mobile phone.

In his complaint filed at Cubbon Park police station on Saturday, Kshijit, a 29-year-old resident of Yeshwanthpur, stated he had posted his resume on online job portals such as Naukri.com and Quikr.

The conman, who introduced himself as Shiva from Palakkad in Kerala, called him on Friday morning and told him that he found his resume on a job site and wanted to meet him at Shanthinagar.

After meeting him, Shiva took him in a private cab and told him that he wanted offer him a job at his restaurant in Kempegowda International Airport.

Kshijit said, “He wanted me to join as restaurant manager at one of his outlets located inside KIA. He took me to HAL, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Koramangala and showed me properties. Shiva also mentioned that he owned restaurants in Chennai. Upon reaching M G Road, he asked me for my phone, claiming that his phone was having network issues, and escaped."

The Cubbon Park police have taken up the case and are verifying CCTV footage in and around M.G. Road.
