ACB warns adulteraters: Don't bribe
Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths warned bribe-givers in food adulteration cases. ACB Director General J. Purnachandar Rao warned owners of hotels, restaurants, food joints, packaging units, manufactures and meat sellers on adulteration and bribe-giving.
He said the bribe givers would be booked under Prevention of Corrupt-ion Act, along with those who take bribes. Recently, food lab officials were caught red handed accepting Rs 1.25 lakh when the ACB arrested the owner and staff of Haveli Bar and Restaurant at Begumpet for giving bribe. Mr Purnachandar Rao said, “Adulteration of food stuff is a crime which is punishable under Section 59 of Food Safety and Standard Act and punishment us up to life and a fine up to '10 lakh. Eateries and food makers who collude with food safety officers and food inspectors will not be spared as it impacts public health.”
