Drunk man sets sister and her family ablaze in Tadipathri

ANANTAPUR: A drunk man set his sister and brother-in-law as also their daughter on fire after dousing petrol on them as they demanded that he stop liquor consumption and take care of his family, police said.

The incident took place on Chukkaluru Road in Tadipathri rural mandal in the wee hours on Sunday. The three were critically injured and have been admitted to Kurnool General Hospital. The man escaped from the scene.

Police said Ramesh Reddy, addicted to liquor, was not taking care of his family. His sister Saraswathi and brother-in-law Nallapa Reddy scolded him a couple of days ago. Ramesh Reddy got agitated and decided to eliminate them. He went and collected a bottle of petrol from a filling station and poured it on his sister, brother-in-law and their daughter Poojitha while they were sleeping at a slab factory on Chukkalur. He set them ablaze.

Neighbours intervened and shifted them in critical condition to the Kurnool general hospital. The Tadipathri rural police registered a case against Ramesh Reddy and launched a hunt for him.
