Telangana High Court gives relief to wife of ex-GST officer
Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Friday directed Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) to follow the procedure under Section 41 of the Crriminal Procedure Code while interrogating the wife of former GST (Anti-Evasion of Taxes Wing) and ex-Enforcement Directorate officer Bollineni Srinivas Gandhi, whom the investigating agency had booked under graft charges.
Sheerisha, wife of Gandhi, is accused number two in the case. She had approached High Court complaining that CBI officials are pestering her and her family in the name of inquiry. She complained that their daughter also has been similarly tortured by the agency officials.
Justice K. Lakshman, taking cognition of the plea made by petitioner, directed the CBI to follow the rules.
The High Court also directed CBI to allow presence of a lady advocate along with petitioner Sheerisha as and when the latter is called for an inquiry. However, the advocate shall not interfere in the inquiry process, the court stated.
