Hyderabad: Techie’s negligent driving leads to pedestrian’s death

Hyderabad: A software engineer working at Gachibowli was booked in a case by Raidurgam police for causing the death of a pedestrian due to negligent driving on Tuesday.

Raidurgam police said that at around 6 am, Kurmaiah (45) and his wife Chittemma, both residents of the Diamond Hills area in Gachibowli were crossing the road in front of South India shopping mall when the accident took place.

The bike (TS 10 ES 9175) which was moving to Gachibowli from Dargah hit Kurmaiah. Kurmaiah fell on the road and suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but succumbed at around 9 am.

Police said that the bike rider was identified as P. Jayaram (23), a software engineer working with a software company in Gachibowli and resident of the Sithaphalmandi area. He was taken into custody for a probe.

In a similar incident, a 19-year-old engineering student U. Ajay was arrested by Gachibowli police for jumping a traffic signal and causing a fracture injury to a pedestrian at the IIIT junction on Tuesday.

Gachibowli inspector R. Srinivas said that a case was registered against Ajay who drove a car in a rash and negligent manner and injured a pedestrian.

Ajay was arrested and produced before a court, and investigation in the case is going on, he said.
