Hyderabad: Man kills wife’s friend, arrested

According to the police, Raju said he was enraged and upset and decided to kill Venkatiaah.

Hyderabad: The Shamshabad police arrested a man from Thondupally for killing his wife’s friend. The victim had intended to have an affair with the attacker P. Raju's wife. He had also asked Raju to leave his wife, police said.

On June 14, the Shamshabad police registered a case of murder after the body of a man was found near Firangi Canal in Thondupally with injuries on the head. During the probe, the police identified the victim as G. Venkataiah, 56, a resident of Shamshabad.

The police verified the footage from CCTV cameras installed near toddy shops and found Venkataiah walking out along with another person and heading towards Thondupally. Based on the CCTV images, the other man was identified as P. Raju, 39, a resident of the same village. Raju was subsequently nabbed.

Shamshabad DCP N. Prakash Reddy said that after the murder of Venkataiah, Raju had taken away his mobile phone. On being questioned, Raju confessed to having killed Venkataiah for trying to have an extra-marital affair with his wife and for asking him to leave his wife.

According to the police, Raju said he was enraged and upset and decided to kill Venkatiaah.

He made Venkataiah consume alcohol and then killed him by hitting his head and genitals with a stick.

DCP Prakash Reddy said Raju had been arrested and produced before a court for judicial remand.
