Andhra Pradesh: Man poisons family; wife, son dead, 2 kids in hospital

Vijayawada: A man gave his family poisoned food and killed his wife and son before killing himself on the eve of Father’s Day. Two of his daughters are battling for life. Botsa Suresh, 30, of Ranadive Nagar in Krishna Lanka mixed an unknown poison in dosas and gave it to his family. He also consumed the poisoned dosas.

Suersh’s wife Yashoda, 29, son Hari Charan, 10, daughters Jaanu, 9, and Nikita, 6, ate the dosas. Suresh, Yashoda and Hari Charan became unconscious after eating the poisoned dosas.

Bandi Pentamma, the mother of Yashoda, and neighbours shifted the girls to a hospital. The doctors tried to save them but Suresh, Yashoda and Hari Charan died. The doctors saved the two girls and their condition is stable.

The police suspect that Suresh took the extreme step due to family disputes. Police said he was having some disputes with his mother-in-law. Pentamma works with the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) as a sanitation worker. She used to register biometric attendance everyday and Suresh used to work in her place. Pentamma was not happy with Suresh as he was not giving money and warned him that she would replace him. Another issue that embittered Suresh was a dispute over the house in which he was staying which belonged to Pentamma. She allegedly asked them to vacate the house. On Saturday Suresh celebrated his son’s birthday and bought him a cycle. He looked and acted normal till he poisoned his family.

Pentamma's family had seen many tragedies. Pentamma's elder daughter and son-in-law died in a road mishap. Now the second daughter and husband committed suicide. Her third daughter's husband also died in an accident.
